新托福考试阅读资料_智者的较量:名言的交错配列艺术

交错配列(Chiasmus)是指在两个不同的并列句子中,第二个是第一个的颠倒排列 (a reversal in the order of words in two otherwise parallel phrases)。一个著名的例子是西塞罗的“吃饭是为了活着,但活着并不是为了吃饭。”


   本月的集锦是从最著名的格言和名言中评选出交错配列之冠。裁判不是别人,正是你们自己。仔细聆听这些格言,然后在下面为你支持的队伍投票。


~ 第一轮 – 总统队 ~


    约翰·肯尼迪: 因此,我的美国朋友们:别问你们的国家能为你们做些什么,而要问你能为你们的国家做些什么。
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.
