　　In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index lost 0.5 per cent to 18,897.45, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.7 per cent to 8,734.62 and South Korea’s Kospi Composite fell 1.2 per cent to 1,825.38. Overall, the broad FTSE Asia Pacific index shed 0.6 per cent to 219.21.
